So, what does a Assistant Driver Manager do? 

You'll be an integral part of our Cement Terminal Operations team:

  • Maintains the highest standard of quality and safety in all areas of production from manufacturing to shipment.
  • Driver management
    • Meet, Greet, orchestrate driver introduction RCM start to finish
      • Assist HR at Driver hiring events with Interviews
      • Coordinate & assign Road Test
      • Training – daily review of progress and release from training
    • Injury/Accident 1st point of contact
        • FROI
        • Administer Drug Test
        • Communicate/Coordinate with Safety if any accident.
    • Driver communications –
      • Conduct driver meetings.
      • Drivers main point of contact for all needs
        • Coordinate between Dispatch, Safety, Terminal Management.
    • Dispatch/Driver Communication
      • Plants, Routes, Special Instructions, Rail Yard Sequence
    • Samara/Safety Coaching
      • Review Samara Coaching Events
        • Review and dismiss error or coach discipline per protocol
    • Payroll – Daily, weekly Coordinating/Updating driver time Sheets for Payroll/HR
    • Review/Retrain – address drivers needs 30, 60, 90 days into employment
  • Liaison for dispatch/ticket printing – help trouble shoot issues when printer, scale, kiosk etc. need reset or reprint.
  • Terminal/Ship support – as needed to assist Plant personal with projects/ship unloading

Qualifications Required:

  • Experience in manufacturing, asphalt, or related industry also preferred.
  • A college degree highly preferred, particularly in engineering, concrete industry management, mining, or related field. 
  • Possesses an understanding of all aspects of concrete production and the types of products produced is preferred
  • Possesses a working mechanical knowledge of all plant related equipment
  • Values a commitment to team concepts and has a sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with all managers, employees, vendors and customers
  • Able to think analytically and on the spot when problems arise.
  • Working computer skills.
  • Use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices
  • May be required to use protective gear and to take other precautions.
  • Required to work long hours during peak season.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk and stand, sit, climb or crawl around and under machines or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and drive a vehicle.
  • Climbing includes the ability to work (at times) at heights in excess of 100 ft.
  • Must possess alertness and stamina to work on feet for entire shift.
  • Reaches and lifts tools and parts.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, equipment, tools or controls; perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists or feet; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Talks to operator, lead man and supervisor prior and during work operation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiar with WINDOWS (basic applications), Internet, basic computer skills 
  • Working knowledge of plant maintenance procedures 

 Working Conditions:

  • Able to work extended hours as needed
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Requires Concrete chipping, shoveling, sweeping and greasing of plant equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment and, on occasion, may visit industrial plant locations
  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment and plant locations 
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
