So, what does a trainee in our Diesel Parts/Inventory Program Do? As a Trainee, you'll be an integral part of our Parts/Diesel Shop operations:  

  • Work with Parts Management to support parts and inventory for our largest diesel shop.
  • Conducts inventory checks of truck parts and tools.
  • Purchases equipment, tools, parts, and supplies as needed.
  • Submits purchase orders (P.O.s) for approval.
  • Maintains a safe and professional working environment. Attends: daily Tool Box Talks, daily Safety Inspections, monthly Environmental Inspections and submit a weekly PM Report.
  • Helps with preventative maintenance schedules for heavy-duty diesel vehicles and mobile equipment.

Qualifications Required as a Silvi Diesel Parts/Inventory Development Trainee:

  • Experience in fleet/transportation, repair and maintenance experience for a medium to large size company with multiple facilities preferred.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, DOT as they apply to the operation.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Currently enrolled and/or completed a community college and or technical school program (Diesel and or Automotive) (Preferred not required)

 Physical Requirements:

In a typical work setting, people in this job:

  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist or crawl.
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
  • Use fingers to grasp, move, and quickly assemble very small objects.
  • Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Determine from which direction a sound came.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds on occasion.
    Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects
    Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.
  • Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired.
  • Move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place.
  • No smoking is permitted on or within company property, including inside trucks, buildings, or anywhere on the premises.
