So what does a Sand Plant Maintenance Mechanic do? You’ll be an integral part of our sand mine operations!
- Heavy Equipment experience, especially wheel loaders.
- Experience loading trucks
- Dredge operation a plus
- Mechanically inclined with industrial maintenance experience
- Welding experience; Mig and Stick
- Oxygen and Acetylene torch experience
- Electrical experience
- 24V and 480V systems preferred
- Hydraulic/pneumatic system experience
- Rebuilding/repairing pumps is a plus
- Inspects and determines the nature of difficulties and malfunctioning and takes necessary action to restore equipment to good operating order.
- Evaluate equipment failures for root cause, communicate findings, make suggestions for equipment improvements, and be able to install modifications as directed.
- Performs daily rounds checklist on operating equipment observing machine in operation and listening to sounds to detect unusual operation.
- Follow preventative maintenance schedules and procedures, recording all pertinent information.
- Assist with maintenance and repairs on compressors, generators, fans and motors, pumps, gearboxes mixers, blowers, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and maintenance equipment.
- Lubricating, cleaning and servicing equipment.
- Keeps work area clean and in a safe condition.
- Obtains, stores, records, safeguards and properly uses equipment, materials and supplies.
- Completes work assignments in the allotted time frame.
Qualifications
- At least 3 year’s of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic at a similar position or a position with transferable skills to quarry equipment.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Education from a technical school in a related field preferred (welding, electrical, maintenance etc.)
- Welding experience required, particularly in mig, stick, and overhead.
- Quarry/mining experience a plus but not required.
- Dredge experience a plus but not required.
- Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of the common reasons for mechanical failure and the steps necessary to correct malfunctioning on different types of motors/machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, using diagram schematics and parts manual.
- Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA, as they apply to the operation a plus but not required.
- Must possess an even temperament to work under pressure to prevent costly delays in production that can result from machinery breakdown
- Must have willingness to put in extra hours of work when necessary.
- Ability to work independently.
- Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership to complete assignments/projects through to completion.
- Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
Physical Requirements
- Lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds on occasion.
- Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist or crawl.
- Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
- See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
- See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
