Location: Southampton, NJ

As a trainee in our Technical Services development program, you will have the opportunity to tap into the world of concrete and learn what the world’s most used building material it is all about. You will get to work alongside our Experienced and Certified Quality Control Professionals at our Ready-Mix plants to develop your construction material testing skills and put you on the path to becoming an “ACI” certified Quality Control Technician. Your experience will include everything from sampling and testing finished concrete in the field to analyzing our raw materials in a laboratory setting. So, what does a CDP trainee in our Concrete Technical Services Development Program Do? As a Trainee, you'll be an integral part of our technical services team where you will complete 3-4 rotations ranging from concrete testing, R&D, Lab work and finally aggregate gradiation. 

  • Arrives at the plant or job site prior to the first concrete delivery.
  • Directly handles concrete during various testing.
  • Performs the initial and ongoing testing of aggregate and or concrete for gradation, moisture, slump, air content, temperature
  • After evaluation of the above factors, maintains contact with plant operations and/or QC, to ensure that necessary adjustments (if required) to the mixture are made.
  • When the concrete comes to the job site places some of the batch in cylinders.
  • In the lab, performs tests that measure the compressive strength of the concrete cylinders.
  • Compares that value to the design value to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Communicates information to the appropriate individuals/agencies.

Qualifications Required as a Concrete Quality Control Development Trainee:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift 100lbs (move wheelbarrow)
  • Eager to learn to a new industry.

 Physical Requirements

 In a typical work setting, people in this job:

  • Lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds on occasion.
  • Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist or crawl.
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
